Biography

Mr. Pearson is an experienced educator who has taught at the middle school, high school and college level. He joined the faculty at Lower Campus in August 2023 after previously teaching at two schools in Germany. At the Swiss International School in Kassel, a bilingual K-9 international school, he taught third grade English, math, and science as well as seventh and eighth grade European history, politics, German law, and economics. For 23 years, Mr. Pearson served as the lead teacher of sixth grade math and science at The Riviera Ridge School (formerly Marymount of Santa Barbara) in Santa Barbara. He has also worked as an adjunct faculty member at Santa Barbara City College and worked as the site director for the Johns Hopkins University, Center for Talented Youth, a challenging academic and residential summer program for gifted youth based in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Pearson is fluent in French and also speaks German and Spanish. He earned both his MA and BA in political science from UC Santa Barbara. Outside of school, he enjoys kayaking, sailing, hiking, photography, gardening, and travel.
