Mr. Risser left his hometown of San Diego to attend UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a BA in Environmental Studies in 1994. After college he served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica. As a Peace Corps volunteer, he spent two years teaching environmental education, developing his Spanish skills, and exercising his love for adventure and the outdoors. He returned to Santa Barbara in 1997, but he continued traveling to Costa Rica with student groups every summer for many years. Mr. Risser earned a California Teaching Credential for Spanish in 2005, and has since earned a supplemental credential for geo-sciences. Mr. Risser began teaching Spanish at Ojai Valley School in fall 2012. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his children, Gio and Nina, surfing with the OVS Dawn Patrol, and leading the school’s Adopt-A-Highway clean-up efforts.
