Go Organic

Help Ojai Valley School Go Organic!

THE CAUSE
Good science says organic food — from grains and legumes to fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meats — helps prevent disease, feeds developing brains and bodies with more essential nutrients, and benefits the ecological environment through soil health and water quality.

Ojai Valley School sits in the perfect spot, figuratively and literally, to show what’s possible through an intentional switch to organic food consumption. It’s in our name! The Ojai Valley is abundant with the natural resources, knowledge, and potential partners to help ensure children growing up here are raised on organic ingredients to become healthy, strong, and aware of the bigger impact of food choices.

THE COST
Thanks to the resourceful leadership of our Food Program Director Holly Jones, with support from the OVS administration and board, we have identified the detailed budgetary changes that a switch to organic will require at our school.

An annual budget increase of $125,000 will support the purchase of organic ingredients across our food program for both Lower and Upper Campus dining. We are deeply grateful to the families who have made early generous commitments to propel us toward that goal, but we need full community support to ensure OVS will go organic in 2026-27!

As a long-term advancement goal, an endowed fund to support organic food at OVS in perpetuity will alleviate the need to fund raise on an annual basis for this program. Please consider making a meaningful legacy gift to help OVS stand as a leader in organic food for generations to come.
