Mary Spence - Faculty and Staff Directory

Mrs. Spence joined the high school faculty in August, 2026 to teach AP Language and Composition, English 11, and Theater. She holds a B.F.A. in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts and an M.A. in English from the Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English. Mrs. Spence has created theatre programs at two of her previous schools, as well as teaching English. Her training and experience as an actor, director, and educator have led her to project-based learning and exploring the intersections of theater and English in the classroom. Mrs. Spence is a Southern California native, and she is excited to be joining the OVS community as a Resident Counselor on the Upper Campus. She lives in the boys’ dorm with her husband, Alex, her daughter, Evie, and their dog, Jasper.
