As we conclude the first month of the academic year, and turn into October, the fall calendar bursts with events in outdoor education, sports, equestrian, academics, college counseling — and even a trip to the pumpkin patch!. Competitive volleyball, cross country and soccer contests have begun. Equestrian students will participate in two competitive events this month. Middle school students will embark on a High Sierra Mountaineering trip on October 6. High school students will leave the same day for a stargazing trip to Mount Pinos, an ideal dark sky venue for observing the fall night’s sky.
Academically, the first quarter ends in October, which will result in quarter grade evaluations. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet teachers and advisors to discuss academic progress and expectations for the year during Family Weekend on October 27-28. At the high school, seniors will continue their college application process and students have the opportunity to meet dozens of admissions reps from colleges from around the world.
October would not be complete with a trip to the pumpkin patch. On October 3, students in pre-kindergarten to second grade will take a field trip to Underwood Farms for a taste of fall and a selection of pumpkins.
