Steve RisserSpanish IV, Spanish I, ESL History, Language Assistance
Steve left his hometown of San Diego to attend UC Santa Barbara. He graduated with a B.A. in Environmental Studies in 1994. After college he served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica. As a Peace Corps volunteer, he spent two years teaching environmental education, developing his Spanish skills, and exercising his love for adventure and the outdoors. He returned to Santa Barbara in 1997, but he continued traveling to Costa Rica with student groups every summer for many years.
Steve earned a California Teaching Credential for Spanish in 2005, and has since earned a supplemental credential for geosciences. He and his wife moved from Carpinteria to the Ojai Valley in 2010, and he began teaching Spanish and ESL at Ojai Valley School in the fall of 2012.
In his free time, when he’s not busy chasing after his little son, Gio, Steve enjoys spending time with the newest member of his family, Nina, who was born in May of 2014. And if there’s any time left after that, you might find him surfing with the OVS Dawn Patrol.
