Matthew InmanOutdoor Education, Science
Matt performs numerous roles at OVS Lower Campus, including outdoor education coordinator, science teacher and science department chair, and boys’ soccer coach. Matt earned degrees in environmental studies and law and society from UC Santa Barbara before entering the teaching profession. He joined the OVS faculty in 1990 and today teaches biology to the seventh graders and physics and chemistry to the eighth graders. In this capacity, he oversees student participation in the Ojai Valley School science fair, the Ventura County Science Fair, and the California State Science Fair.
Weekends often find Matt with a group of students exploring the beaches and mountains of Southern California. As the school’s Outdoor Education Coordinator, he leads numerous backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, kayaking, fishing, canyoneering, hiking, mountaineering, skiing and snowboarding trips throughout the year.
In the fall, Matt is committed to soccer as the coach of both the boys’ soccer team and a Ventura County Fusion club team. His experience as a nationally qualified coach through the United States Soccer Federation and as a player has led to many undefeated seasons and tournament championships.
Matt and his wife, Ann, live with their sons, Jay and Scott, on a pixie tangerine ranch in Ojai.
