Living in Southern California it’s hard not to enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Mild weather and clean air inspire outdoor pursuits, including hiking, running, recreational swimming, surfing and more. OVS promotes healthy living in its curriculum, co-curricular activities such as athletics and Outdoor Education, as well as through the advocacy of dorm parents, coaches, health center and dining staff. Fitness begins with a requirement that all OVS students participate in either physical education classes, equestrian, or sports.
Students on both campuses have access to outdoor pools for non-competitive swimming and recreational use. At the Lower Campus, primary, elementary, and middle school students can run and play on large athletic fields. Students also enjoy competitive play in a gaga pit, tennis and basketball courts, and age-appropriate play structures.
High school students have access to a fitness and weight room in which athletes can exercise, strength train, and rehabilitate from injury using a variety of weight machines, free weights, and exercise equipment (treadmills, rowers, etc.). This facility is available during various times throughout the day as well as during weekends. High school students also enjoy a trail network around the campus for running and walking, as well as tennis and basketball courts.
