OVS has not only given us a great education, and fulfilled its promise as a college prep school. It goes beyond. It has embraced us in a loving and caring environment in which many of us have made friends that we will know the rest of our lives.
— Miles Munding Becker (L09, U13), Redlands University
As a boarding and day school, Ojai Valley School students enjoy an educational experience that extends beyond the classroom. Campus life is enriched by participating on sports teams, camping trips, community service projects, and living among peers in a resident community that emphasizes friendship, character development, leadership, and self-reliance. In this way, OVS lives its philosophy of educating the whole child.
It begins in the Resident Program. Dorm parents create a warm family-like atmosphere in which student grow academically and socially. Students enjoy campus life by interacting with peers in the dorms, hanging out with friends on the weekends, and participating in clubs and co-curricular activities. The Resident Program emphasizes character development by focusing on conflict resolution, life skills, and personal responsibility. By enrolling students from many different countries, OVS maintains a diverse educational community that gives students the chance to develop knowledge and appreciation of different cultures.
