What is Alumni Weekend?
Alumni Weekend is a multi-class reunion during the second weekend in the month of June. The main event, Poolside Social and Dinner, takes place on Saturday evening, with a full schedule of events planned from Friday to Sunday.
The 2017 Alumni Weekend, June 9-11, will be a particularly special event as we will be celebrating Carl Cooper’s 47 years of service to the school. The 2016-17 school year marks Carl’s last as Head of School at Upper Campus, and OVS would like to take this opportunity to honor his legacy at Alumni Weekend.
All former students, who attended OVS for at least two consecutive semesters, and current and former faculty and staff are invited back to campus for Alumni Weekend. Those celebrating milestone reunions are highly encouraged to attend. Classes ending in “2” or a “7” will be celebrating a milestone reunion in 2017, but, as always, we welcome members of all classes to join in on the festivities.
Will it be at Upper or Lower?
For the 2017 reunion, the Main Event Social and Dinner and most of the activities will be held at Upper Campus on Saturday. We will also host a Welcome Reception at Lower on Friday as well as a closing-day Brunch at Lower on Sunday.
May I bring my family and friends?
Yes! Many family-friendly events are planned throughout the weekend. Childcare will be provided at the Upper Campus Girls’ Dorm Lounge during the main event Poolside Social and Dinner on Saturday. Children are not permitted at the Main Event Poolside Social and Dinner. No infants at childcare, please.
Do I need to register in advance?
Registration opens on March 1. We strongly encourage early registration so we are able to accommodate you and your guests! By registering, you will also have priority access to the most popular activities.
How much does it cost? What does the registration fee include?
The fee includes all meals, all events and activities (excluding golf), campus accommodations, and access to the main cocktail party and dinner. Due to the expenses incurred by OVS for this weekend, we are unable to offer a reduced weekend rate should you decide to stay off campus or participate in only the dinner.
May I stay in the dorms?
Absolutely! Another reason to register early is to make sure you reserve a room before we hit capacity. Please be sure to bring your own towels, toiletries, pillows, and bedding/sleeping bags. If you reserved a room, you will receive a room number in early June. There will also be signage in the dorms directing you to your room. You may check into your room as early as Friday, June 9 at 4:00 p.m. Check-out is Sunday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m.
How do I get to the Lower or Upper Campus?
Please click here for a map and driving directions. Please note, G.P.S. will not lead you to the Upper Campus.
What should I wear?
Casual attire is recommended for the majority of the weekend with the exception being the Saturday evening social and dinner – which is dressy-casual attire. Please also remember to bring appropriate footwear and clothing for specific activities (hiking, ropes course, pony rides, etc.). The pool will be open on Saturday during the day.
What if I have special needs?
Please let us know about any special needs (such as dietary requirements or accessibility issues) when you register. We will do our best to accommodate you. For those requiring assistance, our staff will be equipped to transport our guests to the main event dinner on Saturday evening.
