The Fine Arts curriculum is child centered with a hands-on approach to art and creativity.
The children in Pre-K are introduced to a variety of art concepts, including primary and secondary colors, warm and cool colors, and color mixing while exploring ways to use elements such as line, shape, color, and texture in their artwork. Students experiment with media such as watercolor, pastels and tempera paint as well as using fun and unusual objects in their artwork as they explore their individuality and creativity.
The children in Kindergarten continue to utilize a variety of media as they are introduced to concepts such as positive and negative space, collage, and batik. The young artists learn that art is all around us and can be created by using recycled and everyday objects. They study works of the masters such as Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet while creating their own art incorporating new techniques.
