The new Upper Campus J.B. Close Memorial Library consists of more than 3,000 books and subscriptions to 26 periodicals. Since 2014, the librarian has added 650 books to the collection. The library recently received two large book donations and the Young Adult Library Services Association – Teen Top Ten Book Grant. As a result, the School added books to the library collection that were nominated for best young adult fiction publications. This helped modernize the fiction collection to current YA fiction that students are interested in reading, including contemporary topics and diversity of characters.
Throughout the academic day, students gravitate to the library to study and work together. They gather at large oak tables, open their laptops and enjoy wireless access in a quiet setting. Meeting rooms adjacent to the library provide additional space for group work and collaboration, and the Learning Center and College Counseling offices are just steps away. Librarian Devyn Reynolds is available throughout the academic day, and by appointment, to help students with their research and assignments. Ms. Reynolds also works with day and boarding students in understanding plagiarism, finding quality information, and citing credible sources in their work. She has taken an active role in modernizing the OVS Library collections.
