A Message From Our Headmaster

Our founder, Edward Yeomans, would be as proud as I am today to see his school continuing to flourish and grow in the 21st century. We recognize his perseverance and vision in laying such an enduring foundation. He recognized the need for children to be active participants in a supportive environment that articulates clear expectations and values.

Whilst Mr. Yeomans could not have envisioned the demands of the Information Age or the challenges of the Internet, his philosophy to enhance each student’s character through opportunities to develop leadership, responsibility, and respect holds true today. If education is mainly about exposing children to information, then our students of today, who can download the written word or any image at will, are indeed sure-footed on this technological journey. A good school must help students develop and use this knowledge, and we remain committed to that mission.

Today, Ojai Valley School is a thriving community with a diverse enrollment and a dedicated faculty. Through our community support, we have added significantly over the past several years to our facilities. New classrooms, labs, pools, and activities centers have enhanced our campuses, and ushered in a successful phase of growth and development.

Please visit and see for yourself the spirit and love of learning that thrives at OVS. As Mr. Yeomans stated, “Unless a community is a good place for children, unless it can take care of their growth intelligently, it cannot stand the test of time.” Clearly, we have passed the test envisioned by Mr. Yeomans nearly a century ago, and we will continue to support such a community for years to come.
