| A lifelong resident of Ventura County, Laurel received her undergraduate degree in history from UC Santa Barbara. Thereafter, she entered Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles earning her juris doctor degree. Laurel passed the California State Bar Exam and joined the Ventura County District Attorney Office before leaving to practice civil litigation in Santa Barbara. Her passion for history led her to OVS in 1998 where she began her teaching career. In addition to U.S. History Honors, Laurel also teaches Government and Law and Society. Laurel serves as Dean of Faculty, Student Council advisor, and she coordinates the accreditation through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and California Association of Independent Schools.
Among her interests are camping at the lake, reading, watching her son race motocross and spending time with her family. Laurel resides in Upper Ojai with her husband, Doug, and their children, Nolan and Avery. Their eldest son, Parker, a graduate of the Upper Campus, currently attends Chapman University in Orange, California. |
