Born and raised in Santa Paula, California, Doug has played and coached numerous sports with a specific talent for baseball.  At the collegiate level, Doug played baseball for UC Davis and UC Irvine.  He has over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels and he has previously served as athletic director and head baseball coach for the Upper School.

Doug teaches geometry and enjoys the dynamic nature of the subject. He says, “It’s interesting to see how different people achieve the same goal. And, I find that I will be enlightened, too.” The small classes at OVS are especially appealing to Doug. He appreciates that he has the opportunity to adopt his class to the students’ needs. He is also the day student advisor.



Doug is passionate about all sports and can often be seen attending OVS athletic events, as well as supporting sons Parker and Nolan in their various sports activities. Among Doug's other interests are fishing and woodworking, he has an extensive background in carpentry and finish work. Doug lives in Upper Ojai with his wife and fellow faculty member, Laurel, and their two children Nolan and Avery.  Their eldest son, Parker, a recent OVS graduate, is a freshman at Chapman University in Orange, California.
