Biology

In this course, students develop an understanding of the processes, structures, and functions of the components that make up living systems. Included are: cell structure and division, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, taxonomy, anatomy and physiology of humans, evolution, biochemistry, and genetics.

Students demonstrate the ability to safely carry out laboratory work using observational, analytical, and critical thinking. Additionally, students will go on a field trip to Anacapa Island to study ecology through observation of whales, and other large marine animals, and exploration of tide pools.
